Having recently seen the following message at a well-known supermarket:
"Give Mums what they want; time to themselves'"
I was wondering if someone could tell me whether I am correct in my belief that it displays the wrong punctuation mark? should it not be a colon? answers would be gratefully accepted at Email Removed

Hi I think in U.S. standard English a semi-colon here is wrong. We use a semi-colon to connect two independent clauses that are related.
In that ad a colon is the correct choice. They are giving an example of what they are talking about. However, the t in time would then also need to be capitalized and I think if typed you need two spaces. Give Mums what they want: Time for
