Sell out

I am confused with the use of "sell out" as following examples.

(1) The tickets to the megastar's concert sold out in five minutes.

(2) As it's the busiest time for travel, plane and train tickets sell out quickly,
so booking them in advance is recommended.

(3) The performance this weekend is sold out.

(4) The convenience store is sold out of instant noodles because of the coming typhoon.

In (1) and (2), why not use passive voice "are sold out"?

Are (3) and (4) acceptable? Why they use passive voice?
