sell as gold

Can you say this is correct?
Does this make sense? Is it correct to say 'sell it as gold'?
You can't sell the watch dial as gold even though its made mostly of gold as it isn't solid pure gold. There is no point in weighing it.

Thank you

You are trying to cram too much into the first sentence. Say eg You can't sell the watch dial as gold. Even though it's made mostly of gold,it isn't solid, pure gold.

  • You are trying to cram too much into the first sentence.
  • Say eg You can't sell the watch dial as gold.
  • Even though it's made mostly of gold,it isn't solid, pure gold.
  • There is no point in weighing it.
  • This is still oddly worded, in that it implies that you can sell the dial separately from the rest of the watch.
