I was carried away. I lost self-control. I lost self-restraint.
What expression goes well with " carried away" and how are they different ?

Just an addition to GPI's response. I think that 'self-restraint' is used more often with the verb 'have/has', while the verb with 'self=control' is 'lose'. This is only my initial reaction to your post and not
