Yes I think so.

There is also 'self-appoint' which is commonly used. Like when someone names himself in charge of something 'he's the self-appointed organizer'.

Dear Meantolearn,

It is not a flattering phrase. We say «self-promotiing» when we do not approve of a person.

Kind regards,

Dear Goldmund,

The full context is, "shameless self promote".

Thanks for the reply.

Hello M2

"Shameless self-promotion" is a fairly common (and censorious) phrase.

If you always praise your own work to your superiors, and ceaselessly talk about yourself in meetings, and put up a poster by your desk with your sales figures for the month, and circulate a newsletter with details of your achievements, your colleagues will accuse you of "shameless self-promotion".

"Or they may simply lie in wait for you in a dark alley."

Right you are! MrP.

Thanks for pointing this out.
