Is there such a word as self-dejection. I though there was but dictionaries tell me otherwise!

Rölvaag> 3 [probably from French, from Middle French, from Latin] a : DEFECATION b : ***** , EXCREMENT synonym see SADNESS M-W unabridged As you can see the current usage is mostly related to depression , and I don't think you can say self-depression However, in some of the obsolete definitions such as ABASEMENT, you can have that, but not with dejection directly: Main Entry: self-abasement Pronunciation: | | Function: noun : a humiliation of oneself based on feelings of inferiority, guilt, or shame <continual ups and downs of rapture and depression, arrogance and self-abasement -- Edith Wharton>

I don't think there is and this is the reason:

Main Entry: de·jec·tion
Pronunciation: d

Hi Marius,

I've noticed that a lot of your posts are quotes from dictionaries. Can you please ensure that if you are quoting another source you credit the source otherwise the forum can get in trouble with copyrights. It is our policy to credit all sources if it is more than a couple of words being quoted.

Thanks.

In this case I quoted the source, perhaps not clearly enough.
It's Merriam-Webster Unabridged Dictionary.

(BTW, after how long time are the postings locked here? can't edit my first post any more. )

What meaning do you want to convey, Jorge?

Self-inflicted dejection?
