Self-control failures

Is that correct to understand "failtures" here as difficulties? Because for the moment this word in this context doesn't make any sense to me. Thanks.

So let's see what can we do about self-control failures? some researchers have argued that we have a fixed amount of energy to resist temptation, so the more we put ourselves into situations where we need self-control - the more likely we'll be that will fall into temptation.
