Talking to my friend about a photo on the wall of a group of our friends. And I say:

They look like they've seen a ghost in that picture. OR

THey look like they saw a ghost in that picture.

ARe both ok?

Then this is clearer:

In that picture, they look like they've seen / they saw a ghost.
