Grammar

seems, seemed

Hi,

Have I used "seems" correctly here?

Thanks.

"She seems to have had problems for a long time"

"It seems that he caused the argument"

Could someone please explain the difference between seems and seemed, please?

Thanks again...

Either "seems" or "seemed" is correct here, depending on when the "seeming" happened. Julie isn't very happy... she seems to have had problems for a long time -- it seems that way to me now When I first met her, she seemed to have had problems for a long time -- it seemed that way to me some time in the past
