It seemed to me that it was kind of dangerous adventure even though the moutain was half as high as the Mount Everest.

Why is the above independent clause wrong?

...it was kind of a dangerous adventure...(you need an article as you use a noun after the adjective)

or

...the adventure is kind of dangerous... (you don't need an article as you use an adjective only)
