Seeking a word or synonym for a phrase

Seeking a word or synonym for the phrase:

Knowledge of a lot of things in order to have exact knowledge regarding one thing….

A supervisor told me to use "whereforeall" but I cannot find this in any dictionary, thesaurus or encyclopedia.... Is there 1 word which will mean the above phrase? Possibly something like "cognizance" - thank you sincerely for any help.

I have never heard that 'word' either. We do not usually view it that way; we view the two approaches as alternatives: ' A jack-of-all-trades but master of none '.
