Seek out sth over sth

Dear all,

What does it mean " You tend to seek out wild experiences over new ideas "? Does it mean I prefer wild experiences if compared to new ideas, or I will make out wild experiences from new ideas?

Not sure about its meaning, please enlighten me.

Thanks.

Troy.

Hi Troy, It's a very sloppily written bit of English, and as a native speaker, I don't know what it means . Of the two alternatives you give, I'd suggest that the first is the writer's intention (but it still makes little sense to me). If the second alternative is the writer's intention, then he/she should have used 'from' rather than 'over' in the sentence.

Thanks Yizhivika,

That's what I guessed as well, the whole sentence was actually taken from a website which describes the inherent meaning of birth date, the whole description was:

"You're a restless rebel with an unpredictable nature.
Bright but unbridled, you tend to seek out wild experiences over new ideas.
People are frustrated by your great potential, but you love

Hi again Troy,

Thanks for the whole description, and while not retreating from my opinion that it's a badly written piece of English, it's useful to have the full context.

It has evidently been written by someone with a good command of English grammar (and who may well be a native speaker of the language), but someone who is poor (or, at least, negligent) at fully communicating

Haahaa... I read that out of curiosity and for a bit of fun, but I must admit, to my surprise it did hit a few points and describe me quite well, may be most predictors are good at saying something common and vague so that it can be open for interpretation. I do love wild experiences and new ideas, I do hate conventional life and hate to be chained down by certain commitments, well, may be most p
