I'm helping my son learn verb tenses and am trying to recall a silly verse that was taught way back when I was in grade school. I have no idea of it's name, only that it was about the inconsistencies and "exceptions to the rule" of our english language. It neatly summed up many of these in a fun, nonsensical way (possibly rhyming?) and made them easy to remember. Does anyone out there remember this or know of one similar? It contained the phrase,
"If I see, I saw and I have seen, why not I be, I baw and I have been?"
The verse didn't provide answers or clarity to these riddles, it just used the words in such a fashion as to be obviously funny and incorrect.
Thanks for helping an old, forgetful mind!
