Hi,

"Every so often I come across something I would prefer to keep secret." [From telegraph.co.uk]

Is the word 'secret' an adverb, adjective or a noun in the sentence?

Hi, I would say it's an adjective. You perhaps see this more clearly in examples like eg I was going to change the colour of my kitchen, but then I decided to keep it blue. eg I gave my dog a bone to keep it quiet.
