Hi!

Could you please explain the meaning of "secondary education" to English natives (US and UK)?

maybe if you could tell me the age of children in secondary education?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much AlpheccaStars, I do know that wikipedia link.

What I meant to ask was, if i write in my CV that "I am a Science teacher, Secondary Education" (meaning that I teach kids aged 15-18 years old)... is that what it means to you English natives from US and from UK?

thanks!

That's what it means to me.

In England we don't have a 15-18 sector. Secondary Education is from 11 (sometimes 12) to16.

The same is true in the US. Secondary Education begins around ages 12-13 and goes to 16 or 17. But it is not that age-specific. My nephew is 18 and he still has one more year of secondary education.
If I were you, I would just say "Senior High School."

Thanks fivejedjon.

I do not need to be that specific about age. I just mentioned the age to explain myself better.

I just wish to inform my CV readers that I teach pre-university science.
Over here kids aged 15-18 go through 10th 11th and 12th grades and then apply to university.

I was looking for an expression that would convey the meaning both to UK and US readers.

Please read my answer to fivejedjon.

I wonder if "senior high school" has the same meaning in US and UK?

Just say: I teach science in grades 10-12: Physics, Geology, Chemistry, and Biology.
