Hi there,
In terms of tenses and verb forms, do both 'decades going by' and 'dangerous chemicals disappearing' express the 'indivisible' hypothetical future and require 'would + the bare infinitive' in a sentence below (in italics)? Should we differentiate between different points on the hypothetical future timeline in the subjunctive mood the way we do in the indicative mood?
Even if we no longer poisoned the planet, several decades would go by before all dangerous chemicals (disappear).
Paul Y 'indivisible' hypothetical future I have no idea what you're referring to here. Paul Y different points on the hypothetical future timeline Can you give an example of this? It seems you know of an example in the indicative at least.
