Second-Guessing a Pronoun

Eventually, John and Michael’s jealousy of Sarah and Clyde reached its rancorous peak, especially towards the latter, given Jane and Samantha were completely infatuated with him—more so than they ever were with either John or Michael after years of being together. It inevitably drove them mad.

Is it clear that "them" is referring to John and Michael, since it is their jealousy that is being spoken of, and those are the last two names mentioned?
