Second conditional - tense

Hello,

I have this sentence:

"If you told me that someone will/would come here in the next two minutes, I would be shocked."

Are both tenses acceptable? If not, why?

Thanks for any response!

anonymous If you told me that someone will / would come here in the next two minutes, (I would be shocked). 'told' is a past tense form. Of your two choices ( will, would ), only 'would' goes with a past tense.
