Seating or Sitting

Please tell me the difference in meaning here.........

Sitting / Seating arrangement for the examination has been done in the Library hall.

Seating arrangement would describe the overall plan for accomodating the approximate number of students expected. , you're gonna sit on the ground - or you're supposed to bring your own personal whoopee cushion. As an aside, an "arrangement" is usually "made" rather than "done," unless it's floral.

Seating arrangement would describe the overall plan for accomodating the approximate number of students expected.

A sitting arrangement might describe some unusual feature about the chairs - eg., you're gonna sit on the ground - or you're supposed to bring your own personal whoopee cushion.

i thought seat is a noun and thus cannot be converted into "seating" as a verb - on the other hand - sit being a verb can be easily made into "sitting". however now i see that "seating arrangement" is the correct form. but can anyone explain why it should be so?????
