Well i thought it was just C.S. Lewis using Screwtape as a method to show what he thinks is wrong with the way people think, act, and live... but im not sure if thats right or if its a complete answer

I think that the Screwtape letters was not based strictly on the idea of expressing what Lewis thought of how people act think and live, but it was also based on how Christians can better understand how to keep the devil's thoughts out of their head.
