Screenwriting

Screenwriter Wanted for New Sci-Fi Movie -The Midnight Star.

There is a prodco named Blue Star which is an offshoot of Revolution Studios (Joe Roth's Company) and shares offices with them in Santa Monica. Their method of operation is to get a screenwriter to write the screenplay on a partnership basis (no payment until it's sold) under their guidance. If this is the same company, watch out for big changes on everything you submit to the. And guess who is expected to make the changes? If you guessed the screnwriter, you are correct. Pretty nice deal from Bill's point-of-view.

If this is all true, I can understand why a professional wouldn't be interested, but how could this hurt someone who's not a pro?

[nq:1]I admit that this could be a waste of time (money-wise), but it could also be a good experience (a non-pro needs to learn to do rewrites right?)[/nq]
in my experience, many of the people who gove writers notes are psychos and mental patients. Unless you have a strong foundation, you risk "learning" things that'll hurt you down the line. Like learning to fly from an anvil.

Well, aince you can only learn from people who "know", then you really don't stand to learn screenwriting from a prodco that looks for screenwriters on usenet, tries to get them to work for free, and has "tentatively" cast A-list actors for their big-budget blockbuster, presumably under the same conditions as their screenwriter.

Then there's the small matter of the idea that someone who's trying to produce like that - if
