Screen/jagged

Hello

The breeze in my town blew through the screens, bringing the incense of honeysuckle and awakening love, and jagged blue lightning crashed down upon the earth and awakened hate.

--- Does "screen" here mean the same as "curtains"? So the wind blew through the curtains and got inside the home?

--- I understand that "jagged" means here something like "torn", "ragged". So the blue lightning, which was jagged hit the earth and made some people angry, awakened hate in them. Is that right?

Top answer

1-- No; screens are wire mesh set over windows to permit the ingress of air but not insects. 2-- Jagged refers to the shape that lightning takes as it flashes from thundercloud to earth. Hate does not, given the context, necessarily refer to an emotion within the people there.
