Screeched off toward

Frank was chatting with his neighbor when suddenly they heard a gunshot. They looked down the street to see a man falling to the ground and another man fleeing the scene. Frank's neighbor quickly jumped in his car and screeched off toward the wounded man.


Is there any problems with using "screeched off toward" here?
