Scratched past

Is this sentence grammatical:

"The bullet scratched past her temple, and landed on her shoulder."

Note: And by 'scratched past', I mean that the bullet did touch her face.

Christine Christie Is this sentence grammatical: That depends on whether you think that punctuation and sense are parts of grammar. I think they are, so no, it is not grammatical. "Scratched past" is possible, but the comma is wrong, and it sounds like the bullet turned into a butterfly.

The bullet grazed her temple. I'm surprised you think it would harmlessly land on her shoulder.

(I gave you a quick reply because of the good title you have given to this thread – 'Adverb' was useless as the title to your lest thread.)
