Scrambling?

Your company wants to sell 1000 pieces of chocolates. MM sells 500, Supercar does 100, CJ 200, and AS 200. But they want to get more their own share. 1000 is the fixed amount. Do you say "They're scrambling for their shares"? Do you have any jargon or idiom?
