Scotland has barely figured on the world stage

Hi teachers,

Excerpts:

In the 10 years since their country won the right to its own Parliament and limited self-rule as part of the United Kingdom, Scotland has barely figured on the world stage.

Which of the following explanations is correct?

a. To be or seem important or prominent.

b. To be pertinent or involved: politicians who figured in the scandal.

Thank you.

Hi Mister Micawber,

I'd like to know if "on" in the sentence understood as phrasal verb, "has barely figured on" or idiomatic phrase "on the world stage"?

Thank you.

I don't know if MrM is about, but in my opinion it's just another preposition. "He left them on the floor."

Hi Avangi,

Thank you.

Can you please tell me what you mean "I don't know if MrM is about"?

I don't know if Avangi is about, so I'll answer.

about = in the general area; in the neighborhood (Also: around. Same meaning)

In other words, in the context of a forum, "on-line", currently active in using the forum, available to answer
