¿scoping for as looking for?

This is a part of a dialogue:

"I was standing on a corner when this ordinary looking guy stands next to me and smiles and...and I'm so busy scoping for someone hotter that...I'don't even give him a second look"

I listened to this dialogue and wrote it down so it may have some errors, but my question is if scoping for it's the same as looking for...¿?

I clearly hear scoping, but could it be another similar word?
