¿scoping for as looking for?

This is a part of a dialogue:

"I was standing on a corner when this ordinary looking guy stands next to me and smiles and...and I'm so busy scoping for someone hotter that...I'don't even give him a second look"

I listened to this dialogue and wrote it down so it may have some errors, but my question is if scoping for it's the same as looking for...¿?

I clearly hear scoping, but could it be another similar word?

the girl means that at the moment she was looking at someone hotter or that she's always or in general looking for someone hotter??
