Scope of Word "Anti-Life"

Dear All,

Could you, please, let me know whether the word "anti-life" has become hopelessly associated with the abortion-debate, or it can still be used in its original, wider sense, if mentioned in connection with religion?

(I mean, will a reader automatically think I take a stand in the subject of abortion if I use the word in a text that concerns religion?)

Thanks!

I usually hear pro-life - meaning anti-abortion pro-choice - meaning in favour of abortion as a choice In fact, I haven't heard the term 'anti-life' at all.

Dear Clive,

Thank you for your response.

Google gives a lot of hits for it, and it can be found in Merriam-Webster, too:

"antagonistic or antithetical to life or to normal human values".

(Even though Cambridge Dictionaries Online basically equals it with the abortion-related term "pro-choice").

I'd think ''anti-life

Hi,
As I said, I haven't heard it.

I'd have to try to figure the meaning out from the context, I suppose.

It would sound odd to say
eg Tom is anti-life.
