Scooping the fruit out of his life

On and on he talks, scooping the fruit out of his life and dropping it into her lap.

Hi,

Does the bolded part in the above mean "telling her the important things of his life?" Thanks.

Hi,

Perhaps.

But it's an uncommon expression that is a bit hard to interpret.

When do you literally scoop the fruit out of something? To me, it suggests that you are choosing the best part of something.

eg he scooped the fruit out of his yoghurt and didn't eat the rest.
