Scientists making claims

It is assumed that scientists will avoid making ---- claims about the results of their experiments because of the likelihood that they will be exposed when other researchers cannot ---- their findings.
(A) hypothetical.. evaluate
(B) fraudulent.. duplicate
(C) verifiable.. contradict
(D) radical.. contest
(E) extravagant.. dispute

B seems right to me. But "duplicate (make a cope of)" forces me choose A. What do you think? Thank you.

I'd see "duplicate" here as meaning "reproduce". If the scientists published the data/circumstances ot their experiment and cheated on the result, then the other researchers can "duplicate" those data/circumstances, but they'll never get the right result.

Thank you Pieanne. I don't know why I just think "duplicate their findings" sounds like "copy others' findings". Maybe I should take it as "reproduce"; it makes me relieved a lot.
