Scientific research should be carried out and controlled by the governments rather than private companies. Do you agree or disagree?

These days, it seems that more and more corporations are carrying out scientific researches. Despite the undeniable benefits private companies have brought to many projects like capital or resources, I personally believe that the governments should administer scientific researches. There are two primary reasons for this

First of all, private companies are able to take advantage of research. As the project executive organization, they can easy flaw or manipulate the results of researches for their own benefits (break into new markets, gain a competitive edge). There are numerous scandals as the result of new products being launched after inadequate trials. For instance, in 2016 a French drug company was responsible for a death of a young man because of rushed human trials. Although having awareness of danger when testing on human body, however, they still decided to conduct the trial. This example pointed out other problem of private company’s power: ethical perspective. Without the monitoring of government, ethics violation can exist in corporation’s research, affect serious problems for community and environment

Further and event more importantly, it is essential that the governments should be responsible for scientific researches in term of finance and public welfare. The governments are driven by the need to make advances in knowledge in order to improve people’s life. This is because they accountable for the public and the researches are paid by taxes. Therefore, the payment of governments can be sponsored for various project, especially those have crucial impact on society. In addition, the research is conducted by government is transparent and can be shared to academic community.

By way of conclusion, I restate my view that the governments should be in charge of scientific researches because of beneficial society and transparency
