School/class off or on?

Is using the words "off" and "on" with the words school and class correct and grammatical?
Are the following examples correct?

1- Hello ma'am, I'm calling to know if my class is on today.
2- Dear parents, this is to inform you that on account of the preparation of annual function classes from grade VI to grade X will be off on 04-10-2016 and 05-10-2016. whereas classes from grade I to grade V will remain on.
3- This is hereby announced that the school will remain off tomorrow on account of National Defense Day.
4- Mom: Why are you still at home? Is your school off today?
Boy: No, the school is on but only our class is off today.

It is grammatical but not native. There are some other problems:
