School materials / equipment ...

What should we call all those things students have to take to school every day (notebook, pencil, pen, pencil case, textbook...) - materials or equipment?

Thanks

I prefer "materials". "Equipment" sounds more technical and elaborate.

Hi, Mr. Wordy

Wouldn't it be more natural to call those items stationery ?

Thanks!

I wouldn't call a textbook "stationery". The other items are all stationery, however, so you make a good point.
