Topic: Is life for us better than it was for our forefathers?
Answer:
Whenever we learn something about the history of Human, we always have a question” IS life for us
better than it was for our forefathers. To try to answer this question, we had better to go back in
thought the feudal, say to about the middle of the 18 th century, which is before the first industrial
revolution started. Let us see what life was for our fore fathers those days. To be knowledgeable about
lives, we must balance many of things which are very necessary and intimate to us today.
The first area is travelling, for example. In the 18 th century there were no high and modern
transportation such as train line or steamships or aircraft. There were no bicycles and car or even road
which was not rinsed by plastic. Their casual vehicles were horseback or in carts and horse wagon and
sailing ships. There were not emails so that sending a letter to somewhere was rare, difficult, no
telegraph, no telephone system, no wireless or broadcasting. Almost all goods were hand-made. Houses
were lit by candles or lamps because of none-electric light or gas
The second part is medicine. At that age the knowledge of health and the way to treated it was poor.
Nearly every people used their experience which passed from generation to generation. In consequence
dirt and disease were rife in village and town. There were no fully equipped hospitals, no trained nurses,
and but few qualified doctors. The infrastructure was low-levels, there were not enough medical
equipment.
The third part is education. That was the class distinction between the poor and rich. While the rich such
as the mandarin’s children could study in nice school, the poor could neither read nor write. Books were
rare and expensive. There were only few contest in that age like the contest to decide who will work in
the court. That was the dream of any student at that time.
So far then the answer seems to be an emphatic affirmative, surely with all these advantages, and many,
many more that cannot even be mentioned, our life today must be incomparably better in every way
than the life our poor forefathers. But is it really so. Are we really happier than our forefathers. The
world always need to develop due to the human work more and more, all they want is money and their
job. This lead to the carelessness and friendlessness between human and human. We have lost the quiet
and the solid pleasures of the old days.
In conclusion, the risen of technologies have two face. The active one is helping us to better our life and
the negative one is can make our personality change or can lead to the war. The war that will be used
the nuclear bomb and biological weapon.
