As titled, as money granted to a university student or a graduate, what's the difference between them?

Thanks a lot for your explanation. I am still a little confused. In our university (in Canada), we have an award called E.G. Bauman Fellowship, which is usually granted to first year graduate with a possibly very promising future on research. Such a fellowship is a monetary award plus a great honour.
