As far as I could make out, schema means a drawing which outlines a plan or a system whereas scheme means the plan or system.
This way, it would be correct to say "an account schema" to refer to the graphic representation and "an accounting scheme" to refer to a specific way of accounting something.
Am I right or wrong?
Many thanks,
Rui.

"an accounting scheme" - This has nothing to do with drawings. It would be something like a "Ponzi scheme" or other fraudulent methods of "cooking the books" to cheat innocent stockholders. The schemers get rich, but if they are caught, they go to jail.
