Schedule (preposition trouble)

Hi everyone!

Can someone shed some light on this:

"When did you schedule your appointment?"

Am I right in saying that the above sentence sounds like the person is asking when the appointment was made (and NOT when it's supposed to happen)?

How to ask when it's supposed to happen? Is this OK:

"For what time did you schedule your appointment?"
"I scheduled it for 3 o'clock."

Thank you!

Am I right in saying that the above sentence sounds like the person is asking when the appointment was made (and NOT when it's supposed to happen)? Yes, you are. But it's quite commonly said and in context does not confuse people.
