Scared to think

I was scared to think what I have done.

What does the sentence above mean?
1. I was scared when I thought what I have done.
2. I was scared of thinking what I have done.

3.I was scared upon thinking what I have done.
4. Either 1 or 2 or 3 according to context.

As a side note, is it okay not to add "of" or "about" in the sentence as in "...to think of/about what I have done" ?
