Scared of/for his reaction

When I told her that I had decided to take the job, I was scared of/for her reaction, but she was just happy for me.

Which one is correct?

scared of However, that's a little low register compared to the rest of the sentence, so it doesn't fit very well in the sentence. In my opinion it would be better to use "afraid of". CJ
