Scan on or over

Hi, I like to see '' a scan'' used as a noun in a sentence but i am not sure whether going with '' on '' or over, so your help of clarification would be supporive for me.

- I had a little bit of scan on the newspapers.

- I had a littel bit of scan over the newspapers.

Or any other preposition other than those two?

Thanks

" A more natural NA English sentence might be something like this: A quick scan of the newspaper showed me there weren't many job openings in my field. I think scan is used much more as a verb than a noun, and the noun often refers to the medical test.

It sounds odd to say "I had a little bit of scan." A more natural NA English sentence might be something like this:
A quick scan of the newspaper showed me there weren't many job openings in my field.

I think scan is used much more as a verb than a noun, and the noun often refers to the medical test.
