Scale of 1 to 5

Please rate this short paragraph on a scale of 1 to 5.

Being sober-headed and not feeling tired, I went for a ramble around my house. It was 4.30 a.m. in the morning when I was promenading alone through groves. The sky was gloomy/sullen and a cool breeze was blowing against my face, I could feel tingling sensations on my face. With no moon and stars hanging overhead, I could barely see my path. In a pitch-dark night like this, I tend to be warier. Even a low sound could catch my attention and make my hair rise. After a 30-minute walk, out came an aged man with a flowing white beard in front of me.

Do you have any comment about it?

I hanker for your precious feedback to improve my writing.

Thank you.

Thank you very much indeed, Clive.

I realized that many English words are not meant to be used in speech, but in formal writing.

That's the major hurdle for anyone learning English.

Hi,

A sentence like I was promenading alone through groves is not one that a native speaker is ever likely to write. In other words, not all words in the dictionary are commonly used, even in formal writing.
