Saying cheers

I am currently working for a english company but I am south asian. Most of the time I speak to english people. I have noticed they usually say "cheers" when we end a conversation.
My question is how do I respond to it? I just say cheers?
for an example today I asked our sales guy "I have sent you the tech email, can you please check and let me know if there's any errors"
he says "will do, cheers"
How do I respond to this? I say thanks? cheers? np?

In this case cheers is a very informal way of saying thanks. You could still say thanks or ta. I do say cheers also but not just on it's own.
