Well that was leaving it a little late to change her mind! It is not unknown for people not to come to the church and there is a phrase 'left at the alter' for the partner who was let down. He won't believe it right now but if she wasn't 100% sure that she wanted the marriage, it is better for him that it didn't happen.

  • Better not to be married than get divorced in a couple of years, when perhaps they would have children to get hurt as well.
  • This way, he can move on and find someone who really does appreciate him and get a much better relationship and marriage.

There was a case in the U.S. this summer where a woman changed her mind shortly before her wedding (we would say she "got cold feet") -- but instead of just telling everyone she didn't want to get married, she went to another state and pretended that she had been kidnapped! Police were looking for her for days before the truth came out, and then she was in a lot of trouble!

It seems to me that this sort of things is mostly associated with women, I mean it is usually the bride who changes her mind before the wedding. I wonder if anyone has ever heard of a story where it is actually the man who changes his mind shortly before the wedding?
