Savvy

The word "savvy" can be used in which type of speech?
Formal, informal?

It seems like the kind of word that you would find in poetry and not much on the day-to-day.

"savvy" is also used a lot as a compound adjective. For example, "computer-savvy", "tech-savvy" etc are all relatively common.

And you can use in lots of situations, correct?

For instance:

Generally speaking, "savvy" means knowing about something and making good judgments based on that knowledge.
