Vocabulary

savvy ?

Hi everyone,

The following sentences describe a restaurant and I don't understand the exact meaning of the word, "savvy".
I've looked up dictionaries but seemed to find the proper meaning in the context.
If you have any idea about that, would you let me know?

Thanks~!

Slick and savvy, this place is a melange of pizzeria, osteria, wine bar and kitchen shop. It’s a worthy stop any time, with an excellent wine list, an enormous cheese selection and good people- watching.

"Savvy" means 'in the know' when describing people. Describing a place, it probably means 'up-to-date' or 'popular'. I believe the word was originally a corruption of the the Spanish sabe, meaning 'to know'.
