Savory Vs Salty

Hi

Would you say that "Savory" is roughly opposite of "Sweet"?

Also, which of the following responses sounds better?

A - How do you like this chutney? Sweet?
B - No, salty.

or 

A - How do you like this chutney? Sweet?
B - No, savory.

Just to make sure that I understand you correctly.

Savory does mean "salty", but it's not used in that sense. Right? And if so, is the following sentence OK?

The chocolate cake was very savory.

Here's Webster's entry:

savory (adjective)
: having a pleasant taste or smell
: having a spicy or salty quality without being sweet
: morally good

Cakes are so specifically and decidedly sweet that no one would call them 'savory'.
