Save the votes?

Hi all

Is it natural to say this?

He postponed this scheme to save the votes, which I think is an entirely natural thing for a politician to do.

What about 'it saves the votes'?

Thanks

This for replying Clive.

Just wondering, how unnatural would 'to save the votes' be? I ask this because I am mentioning this point a couple of times in the same response.

Thanks again

Thanks for the follow-up Clive.

Do you mind suggesting a way or two to talk about this same point if I wanted to use slightly different words?

Thanks

Hi,

As I suggested, more natural would be

He postponed this scheme to avoid losing votes . . .

Another way is

He postponed this scheme to avoid losing voter support . . .

He postponed this scheme to avoid losing support ( among voters ) . . .
