Sat on the sand

Hello, Teachers,

I'm wondering if there is a special word to use when talking about sitting on the sand..or at a park for relaxing, as a get away.
Maybe rest or lay?

Thanks in advance,

There really is no special word. It depends on the context, which sets the tone. "I sat on the beach and listened to the soothing water crash against my ankles.

"I sat on the beach and listened to the soothing water crash against my ankles. My feet were nested within the sand below. A tickling sensation was created when the pebbles trickled along my toes as the tide swayed. The sun blinded me and left me in a state of imagination."

Although we don't use the word "lie" to mean "to sit" I did want to point out that "lie" and "lay" are different verbs, and I think you meant "lie."
