Why the correct answer is A not C? What is the difference beteween these two sentences?

This answer is what I got from an English native speaker:

Because Gothic architecture is an object not a person, it should be used with passive form.

If you use " in particularly associating", it sounds like Gothic architecture does think." Certainly, building doens't have a brain!
