Sane useful and upright

Hi, Sane in this context mean logical, supervised or considered before doing something?
I got those three meaning in Hebrew, and I tried to rewrite them to English Emotion: thinking

Useful mean- To be effective?

Upright, I found this strictly honourable or honest:

My guess goes with the first one strictly honourable ?

"Sane, useful, upright members of society hold beliefs that others find difficult to understand, much less believe"
